When playing the Saturday Easter competition I noticed that the plastic cups in the holes came all the way up to the top. I thought that the Rules of Golf specified that such a practice is illegal, and indeed specifies the height under the surface which must be left free.

would like to know if the club are going to do anything about the plastic rims which we are using during competitions? after checking the rules these plastic rims are illegal to use unless they are one inch below the playing surface.
Brian Williams- Secretary/Manager 12/05/2009 08:53:15
The plastic rim around the top of each hole is only used during the winter months to save the holes from collapsing inward- the turf and soil become very wet and the rims helps to correct this. However, during summer golf the rims are removed so that the cups may be inserted to a depth of 1" below the surface.

The Committee will consider this suggestion at their next meeting

can pumps be hired in periods of heavy rain to remove water from certian bunkers that seem to retian it for a longer period i e fairway bunker on 11
Brian Williams (Secretary/Manager) 11/08/2009 15:11:49
Work on improving drainage in bunkers will be undertaken over the next 12 months. With limited manpower available, especially on weekends,it is not considered cost effective to purchase a water pump at present.

Do the results still stand for saturdays (6th feb) texas scramble? I ask this as the strange decision was made to allow trolleys halfway through the competition. For the people who weren't allowed to use trolleys and some may have physical injuries or conditions, surely this puts them at a disadvantage. Does this make the competition void?

The competition has been cancelled and entry moneys will be refunded. This decision was made as all golfers should be allowed to play under 'Equitable Conditions'. The competition will not be re-run.

May I congratulate the club for replacing firay 150 markers with bigger discs and the removal of the conifer on the 8th fairway. The 8th tee shot is now more of a risk / reward type shot (for those want to try it!).
