The Professional Team

Alex Price – PGA Professional

I first started playing golf at age 2 following in the footsteps of my dad who was also a Club Professional. I represented Gwent from age 11 and was also a Welsh International. I turned Professional in 2014 with my first job as Assistant Professional at Glamorganshire Golf Club. Most recently, I worked at Celtic Manor and was also Head Professional at Grove Golf Club.
I have a huge passion for coaching, custom fitting and club repairs. I coach using GC2 launch monitor technology and video analysis. I also won awards with the PGA for the highest rated trainee for Custom Fitting and Equipment Technology

Simon Clarke – Golf Operations Manager

’ Simon has been involved in sport for over 30 years. From playing, coaching, volunteering as well as over 15 years in senior roles with Sports National Governing Bodies. His background is very much grass roots sport and is very people orientated. Having worked for several governing bodies, as well as major stakeholders such as Sport Wales and Welsh Government, Simon is fully versed in good governance of community clubs (and small businesses).

He joined Glamorganshire as a 10-year-old and played a number of years, including a 5-year stint working behind the bar. He is passionate about creating safe and enjoyable environments for all junior golfers too.

His role is focused on supporting the membership to have the best possible experience at the club, whilst ensuring everybody’s expectations are managed. His role also encompasses encouraging visiting groups to enjoy the club, manage the tee sheets, sweep up, clear the bins, highlight the history of the club and much more.

More latterly, he has set up his own business Speakeasy Club, which is focused on men’s mental health awareness, and putting mental health resources into community sports clubs.

As Golf Operations Manager, Simon’s working hours are Tuesdays in the Pro shop, with Wednesday to Friday in the office. Inevitably, this may change from time to time. Look forward to seeing you soon.
